HYDERABAD: The Kotri Barrage Hyderabad irrigation chief engineer has issued a notification announcing that the Kalri Baghar Feeder Upper System will remain closed from December 20, 2025, till January 15, 2026.
The decision was taken after consultations with landowners and cultivators of Thatta and Jamshoro districts to facilitate essential work under a project under the K-IV scheme titled Improvement of Kalri Baghar Feeder and Keenjher Lake, PCC Lining of Kalri Baghar Feeder Upper, Phase-I.
The project is aimed at enhancing the Kalri Baghar Canal, which plays a vital role in supplying water to Karachi. The notification states that for routine annual inspection, maintenance and repair of the Kotri Barrage Headworks infrastructure, all canals under the Kotri Barrage will remain closed from December 25, 2025, till January 10, 2026.
During this period, there will be no water discharge in Akram Wah (Lined Channel), Old Phuleli (Pinyari), New Phuleli, KB Feeder Upper, Wadhu Wah, and Phuleli (Fasadi) Wah. The irrigation authorities have advised farmers and other stakeholders to take necessary measures in view of the scheduled closures.
