Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho said on Thursday that 70 to 80 per cent of the crime cases detection is possible due to the TRACS system recently launched by the Sindh police.
Officials said Additional IG Odho visited the office of the Karachi Electronic Dealers Association and attended a ceremony to hand over recovered mobile phones worth millions of rupees to their rightful owners.
He said community policing is fundamental to crime prevention in Karachi and an 18 percent reduction in crime rate this year is the result of effective strategy, coordinated measures and improved performance of the police.
He stressed that strict implementation of the issued SOPs is essential for the protection of both citizens and the business community, while additional personnel will also be provided for effective surveillance of markets.
The additional IG said the crime detection rate has increased to 70 to 80 percent with the use of the TRACS system, while the Safe City project is progressing successfully with continuous progress.
He also said that in the coming days, drones and robotic systems will play an important role in traffic and parking management, which will provide better facilities to the citizens. Regarding traffic, he said that the use of the e-challan system and modern technology has significantly improved law and order in the city.
President KIDA Rizwan Irfan said that recovered mobile phones worth about eight lakh rupees are being handed over to the citizens and SOPs are being fully implemented, which has increased trust and cooperation.
At the end of the ceremony, the mobile phones were handed over to their original owners, while the police chief, the SSP South and other officers were presented with commemorative shields and gifts. On this occasion, two motorcycles were also given to the Shaheen Force of the Preedy police station, for which the police chief thanked them.
