The Sindh government on Thursday decided to introduce an e-challan system in the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) following reforms in the traffic law implementation mechanism.

Officials said Sindh Minister for Food Makhdoom Mehboobuz Zaman announced that after the successful implementation of the e-challan system in the traffic sector, the Sindh government had now decided to introduce the same digital enforcement mechanism in the SFA. He made this announcement during a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party Women Wing President Faryal Talpur.

During the meeting, Zaman briefed Faryal on the ongoing digital transformation initiatives within the SFA. He stated that the authority was set to launch a modern online registration system, comprehensive complaint management system and advanced digital challaning system.

These initiatives, he said, were aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery. He stated that through these digital reforms, the SFA would provide citizens with improved, transparent and accessible services.

The new system would significantly streamline complaint lodging, monitoring, and redress, while the digital challan system would enhance transparency and accountability in the field operations of the food authority, the minister said as he apprised Faryal about the recent actions taken by the SFa against substandard and unsafe food across the province.

He noted that strict enforcement measures had been intensified to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Additionally, Zaman presented a detailed briefing on the department’s wheat and stock policy aimed at improving transparency in the supply chain, enhancing livestock management and ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food for the public.

Faryal appreciated the efforts of the food department and stated that the Sindh government was moving towards a more modern, efficient and transparent governance model, prioritising the health and safety of the people
