PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has temporarily barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from taking action against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister Dr Amjad Ali, who had filed a petition alleging harassment and the issuance of notices against him.

The two-member bench, comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Khurshid Iqbal, heard the case, asking the NAB to submit a reply. During the proceedings, Dr Amjad Ali’s lawyer, Bashir Khan, informed the court that his client is a sitting provincial minister who had faced a complaint before the Election Commission by one Azizullah, alleging illegal acquisition of 200-kanal property, a residential house, and other assets.

All records were submitted to the Election Commission, but no wrongdoing was proven, he said, adding the matter is also under judicial consideration in Peshawar High Court. The lawyer further stated that a local journalist from Swat circulated videos against the minister, based on which NAB issued call-up notices alleging assets beyond declared income and corruption.
