Islamabad:Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Nadeem Mahbub while taking a briefing from the National Education Foundation (NEF) on the Khawajasara Learning Initiative on Tuesday ordered expansion of the programme.
The NEF is currently operating a dedicated center in Islamabad under the initiative in Barri Imam structured around four key components -- Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Skill Development, Social Awareness and Employability, which remains the leading components of the programme.
The Barri Imam Centre has been functional for the past two years and is currently serving 25 learners, and an in-house stitching workshop has also been established to equip learners with practical skills.
The secretary said that the centre should also introduce a market-driven, employable skill to ensure that learners’ abilities are aligned with current industry demands. Recognising the growing potential of e-commerce and digital marketplaces, he emphasised the importance of training learners in crafting small, high-value accessories and handmade products that can be easily marketed and sold online.
The secretary said the Khawajasara learning initiative stood as a strong testament to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and NEF’s continued commitment to promoting dignity, empowerment and equitable educational opportunities for all segments of society.
