LAHORE:Secretary Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Dr Ehsan Bhutta has directed all relevant departments to coordinate closely to ensure the timely completion of the Data Darbar extension and related projects while maintaining high standards of design, functionality, and visitor convenience.
He issued these directions while chairing a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Data Darbar Extension Project on Tuesday. He said this historic initiative has been taken to modernise one of Pakistan’s most revered spiritual sites and provide world-class facilities for the millions of devotees and tourists who visit the shrine annually.
Highlighting the Punjab govt’s commitment to preserving and promoting cultural and religious heritage, the project combined modern amenities, including upgraded washrooms, an expanded langarkhana and other visitor-friendly facilities, while maintaining the spiritual sanctity and historical significance of Data Darbar.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Lahore Development Authority (LDA) MianMarghoob, Director General LDA Tahir Farooq, Director Projects LDA, Administrator Data Darbar, TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Ahmed, and representatives from Nespak.
Dr Ehsan Bhuttaemphasised that the extension project should be executed in well-planned phases, ensuring smooth movement and maximum convenience for visitors. Special attention will be given to the overall visitor experience, including the provision of essential amenities, improved crowd management, and well-organized facilities for langar and other services. In addition, Dr Ehsan conducted a comprehensive visit of all six floors of the Auqaf Department, inspecting offices for cleanliness, prayer areas, the child care center, parking facilities, and the adjacent Shah Chiragh Mosque.
