ISLAMABAD: A welcome step by Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has ensured the completion of the special division bench, preventing further delays in tax-related cases. With the inclusion of Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz, the special division bench resumed hearings on Monday.
The bench—originally comprising Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan—was constituted under the National Judicial Policy to exclusively hear tax matters. The single benches of both judges were dissolved, and their routine cases were transferred to other courts. However, the bench had remained incomplete in recent days due to the illness of Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, leading to the postponement of several tax cases.
It has been learned that Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan has taken extended medical leave owing to his health condition. Lawyers and litigants have welcomed Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar’s timely decision to complete the bench and restore the smooth hearing of tax-related cases.
