Islamabad: Pakistan’s business and development leadership has welcomed the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the country’s first-ever Chief of Defence Forces with exceptional optimism. The appointment is seen as a historic restructuring of national security leadership that will have a lasting impact on Pakistan’s strategic, economic, and institutional landscape.
The elevation, coupled with Field Marshal Munir’s continuation as Chief of Army Staff, has been widely interpreted as a major stabilizing development, bringing coherence to defence decision-making and signalling long-term continuity at the highest echelons of national security.
Dr. Sardar Rashid Ilyas Khan, senior leader of the Islamabad Developers Association and President of the Centaurus Group, said the business community ‘extends its warmest and most heartfelt congratulations’ to Field Marshal Munir. He described the appointment as “a carefully calibrated step that positions Pakistan for a decade of strengthened defence capability and renewed economic momentum.”
Dr. Rashid noted that Pakistan’s economic stakeholders have long emphasized the need for policy continuity and institutional stability, conditions that Field Marshal Munir’s leadership has consistently helped reinforce. “Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has already demonstrated a strategic clarity and national vision that is rare in its depth,” he said.
He highlighted the success of Operation Bunyan al-Marsus, terming it “a masterclass in operational excellence and inter-agency coordination,” which elevated Pakistan’s international standing and underscored the military’s professionalism. A secure Pakistan is the foundation of a prosperous Pakistan, and the strengthening of the defence architecture inevitably produces ripple effects across investment, industry, trade, and national development.
