Rawalpindi : Member of the Provincial Assembly and Chairperson/Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Salma Butt, addressed the Restaurants, Caterers, Sweets, and Bakers Association (RCSBA) meeting. She emphasised that improving the decades-old gridlocked system requires time and collaboration between the government and business community. Traders are the economy’s backbone, and it’s the government’s responsibility to protect their dignity, she added.

Salma Butt assured the government would support traders facing injustice while taking action against law violators. Traders will be represented in the PFA/PERA Force committee. She condemned unnecessary fines and humiliation, citing action taken against misbehaving officials. The government is monitoring wheat prices and taking action against hoarding, ensuring price lists and quality control checks.

Traders expressed grievances, including social media humiliation, heavy fines, rising flour prices, and harassment by departments.
