KOHAT: A member and facilitator of an inter-district drug trafficking gang, identified as Wilayat, was killed in a police encounter near Mir Kalam and Banda Dawood Shah in the hilly areas of Kohat and Karak boundary.
Regional Police Officer, Kohat, Abbas Majeed Marwat told reporters that the police received a tip-off about Wilayat and his associates being present in the hilly area of Banda Dawood Shah. Acting on the intelligence, DPO Karak Saud Khan, along with a large contingent of police and commandos, conducted a raid in the area.
Wilayat and his group opened fire upon spotting the police, injuring one officer slightly. In the retaliatory fire, Wilayat was killed on the spot, while his other accomplices managed to flee into the hills. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend them.
A large quantity of weapons and commercial amounts of drugs, including ice and cannabis, were recovered from the deceased.
RPO Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat praised DPO Saud Khan and his team for their operation and confirmed that actions against criminals and drug networks will continue. A case has been registered at Banda Dawood Shah Police Station. DPO Saud Khan added that Wilayat and his associates were also involved in facilitating terrorists.
