ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Chairman of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) Yahya Khan Afridi has reaffirmed the judiciary’s resolve to build a transparent, equitable and citizen-centric justice system, stressing that the adoption of modern technology is now indispensable for ensuring accessible and efficient justice nationwide.

Addressing participants in the Consultative Workshop on the National E-Court Reform Agenda — Requirements and Challenges — held at the Federal Judicial Academy, the CJP said meaningful reform requires a unified national digital strategy for courts at all tiers.

The workshop brought together Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Judge of the Supreme Court, senior officials from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan Digital Authority, National Commission on the Status of Women

and Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, along with registrars of the Supreme Court and high courts, IT experts and senior judicial officers

from across the country.

Justice Afridi underscored the central role of NJAC, chaired by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, in driving the judiciary’s digital transformation.

He said NJAC, functioning under the NJPMC, is providing the institutional framework needed to harmonise digital initiatives across all courts.

Earlier, Registrars of the high courts and representatives of the Pakistan Digital Authority presented detailed assessments of the current technological landscape, ongoing digitisation efforts and the challenges faced by courts at various levels.
