ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram Wednesday clarified that so far no action had been taken against those who recently attended an NDU workshop and were ‘called Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq’ by the party founder Imran Khan.

Talking to the media after having met her brother in Adiala jail Tuesday, Uzma Khan had said that the party founder was disappointed over the participation of certain party leaders in the NDU event. She had quoted him as saying that those who attended the ceremony were “Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq of the party” and that they had no place in its ranks.

In the backdrop of this strong statement, when this correspondent contacted the PTI information secretary about any action taken against those party people, he said that so far no such notice/letter had been issued to anyone.

It was reported that the 27th National Security Workshop was held at the National Defence University in Islamabad on November 29, which was attended by members of parliament, senior civil and military officers, representatives of educational institutions and civil society.

The PTI leaders, who also were also among the attendees, included Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Babar Saleem Swati, Senator Mashal Yousafzai and MNA Syed Shah Ahad Ali.

Their participation triggered reaction from the party.

A statement of Imran Khan was also issued, who said, “The participation of PTI people in the NDU workshop is shameful.”
