Islamabad: Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-7/4 marked a major academic milestone on Tuesday as it hosted the first convocation of its BS Urdu program, awarding degrees to 71 graduates of Batch 3.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Niaz Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University, as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included Mr. Yasin Afaq, Deputy Director General Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), and Prof. Dr. Burhan Ali Shah, Chairman CMC. In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Saadia Aziz expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest and other dignitaries, and congratulated the graduates and the Urdu faculty for their dedication and hard work.
A proud moment came as two outstanding students achieving a perfect 4.00/4.00 CGPA were awarded Gold Medals, while several students securing 3.9 CGPA received Certificates of Merit. Special recognition was also given to Dr. Nabeela Sajjad, founder and key architect of the BS Urdu program, for her significant contributions toward establishing and strengthening the department.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed congratulated the principal, faculty, graduates and their families. He highlighted the vital role of the Urdu language in shaping cultural identity and intellectual growth, and encouraged the graduates to pursue their goals with commitment while contributing positively to society.
The ceremony concluded with a photography session capturing the proud moments shared by graduates, faculty members and dignitaries. A lunch was served afterwards, bringing the event to a warm and celebratory close. The first convocation of BS Urdu at IMCG F-7/4 stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of the national language, with hopes of achieving many more milestones in the future.
