ISLAMABAD: The federal government raised the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs7.39 per kilogram, or 3.66 percent, for December 2025, pushing the cost of an 11.8kg domestic cylinder to Rs2,466.10 from Rs2,378.89 in November.

After the decision, the LPG price has been gone up to Rs208.99 per kg for the month of December from the previous Rs 201.60 per kg per kg during November, according to the notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The increase reflects a 4.93pc rise in Saudi Aramco’s CP and a slight 0.15pc drop in the dollar exchange rate.

A 45.4kg commercial cylinder also jumped by Rs335.51 to Rs9,488.15. “The LPG producer price is linked with Saudi Aramco-CP and the US dollar. The combined effect has raised consumer prices by Rs87.21 per domestic cylinder,” the OGRA notification said.

Despite the official hike, LPG remains largely unavailable at the government-notified rates across Pakistan. Chairman of the LPG Association, Irfan Khokar, said plants and retail shops continue selling the fuel far above the official price. He alleged black marketing in November led to billions being looted from consumers and demanded government action against the mafia, rather than small retailers. In November, LPG in Islamabad sold for Rs330 per kg, far above the official Rs201 rate, with prices even higher in hilly regions.
