RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court Monday issued orders for unfreezing the accounts of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Namal University.
During the hearing of a petition against the freezing of accounts, petitioner Aleema Khanum, her lawyer Faisal Malik and Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah were also present in the court. The prosecution said if any other accounts other than Aleema Khanum’s business account and personal account had been frozen, they had no objection to their restoration, on which the court unfroze the accounts of Namal University and the hospital.
Meanwhile, talking to the media, Aleema Khanum said the court had told her in the previous hearing that it had not ordered the closure of Shaukat Khanum’s accounts. “If the court did not close the accounts, then who did? The government has gone after Shaukat Khanum and Namal University. Is it a crime if someone does a good deed?”
She further said, “We are facing a lot of trouble due to the closure of accounts of Namal University and Shaukat Khanum. You can commit corruption of 5 thousand billion. That is fine. I feel sorry for the judiciary. The judicial system has completely collapsed, but we have not lost our courage. We are still appearing in these same courts. The judges are giving meeting orders. The police stop us using illegal methods and repeatedly commit contempt of court. What should we do now? We cannot break the jail. We sit outside the jail legally.”
She said the Pakistani media ran the news of the PTI former chairman through the Indian media. “Our media should tell us why they don’t run the news themselves. The clip of Noreen Niazi that went viral was made with AI. My sister cannot say such things. The government has made videos with AI. Modi can come to Pakistan without a visa and we cannot talk about our brother,” said Aleema.
