Rs189m released for schools’ uplift

Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has released the first installment of funds worth Rs189.1325 million for construction and repair works including additional rooms, new toilets and boundary walls in 98 educational institutions of Rawalpindi district.

These projects will be completed in 15 Higher Secondary Schools, 56 High Schools, 43 Elementary Schools and 41 Primary Schools of the district. Rs113 million will be spent for construction of 180 new rooms, Rs62 million will be spent for construction of boundary walls of 7 Higher Secondary Schools, 60 High Schools, 43 Elementary Schools and 41 Primary Schools.

Construction of 127 new toilets in 25 high schools, 20 middle schools and 42 primary schools will be carried out with Rs155 million which have transferred to the concerned wings. DEA Chief Executive Officer Tariq Mahmood chaired a meeting regarding the funds utilisation.

The meeting was attended by the DEOs, Deputy DEOs and Assistant Director (Planning). The CEO gave clear instructions to all the officers to ensure regular monitoring of development projects.
