KOHAT: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat, Abbas Majid Marwat, said on Friday the Kohat Region Police achieved significant success between August 1 and October 31, 2025, in controlling crime, arresting hardened criminals, conducting counter-terrorism operations, and seizing illegal weapons and narcotics.
The region, which includes Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Orakzai, and Kurram, recorded major achievements in its crackdown against terrorists, absconders, and proclaimed offenders. A total of 702 proclaimed offenders were arrested during the three-month period, including 227 in August, 267 in September, and 208 in October.
The sustained campaign against long-absconding and dangerous criminals significantly weakened organized crime networks and violent groups, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
In counter-terrorism efforts, the Kohat Region Police, in coordination with the Counter Terrorism Department, conducted multiple intelligence-based operations between August and October. These operations resulted in 22 terrorists being killed or neutralized, disrupting terrorist activities across Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, and Orakzai districts, and improving overall security in the region.
The police also seized a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition during this period, including 154 Kalashnikovs, 15 Klakov rifles, 56 rifles, 171 shotguns, 1,139 pistols, 36 hand grenades, and over 31,000 rounds of ammunition, along with various magazines and AGL shells. This large-scale recovery of illegal weapons has played a crucial role in curbing the flow of illicit arms and strengthening preventive security measures.
In anti-narcotics operations, the police reported significant results as well, seizing approximately 541 kg of charas, 3.3 kg of heroin, 1.8 kg of opium, 98.9 kg of ice (methamphetamine), and 257 bottles of tincture.
