PESHAWAR: Condemning withdrawing security from the Awami National Party leadership, the party on Sunday said that the ‘hybrid regime’ at the Centre had not only trampled the provincial autonomy but had also defied the Constitution of Pakistan by taking back security from the ANP central president Senator Aimal Wali Khan.
In a statement, ANP central information secretary Ehsanullah Khan said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur appeared completely helpless and powerless against the group comprising the khaki patrons of the hybrid regime entrenched in the central government and their political lackeys.
“Also, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police has completely disregarded the clear directives of the chief minister,” he said, adding that the provincial police chief while following the orders of the federal ministry of Interior had recalled all security personnel assigned to the Senator Aimal Wali.
He said that this action had not only nullified the assurance given to Aimal Wali by the chief minister but had also rendered previous orders issued by the IGP meaningless, indicating a serious violation of provincial autonomy and governmental authority.
“Federal-level security had already been withdrawn and now the personnel from the KP Police have also been completely removed”, the ANP leader claimed.Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had personally assured Aimal Wali that his security detail would be maintained and not reduced. However, despite this assurance, all relevant police personnel were ordered to report back to line duties this morning.
The spokesperson for ANP expressed reaction to this situation, saying that the chief minister should clarify his position, questioning what meaning his assurance held after the withdrawal of the security.
Commenting on this matter, Engr Ehsanullah said that the hybrid regime had refused to abide by the Constitution concerning provincial autonomy and the federation. He said the ANP would devise a new and comprehensive plan for the security of its president Aimal Wali to effectively counter such violations and ensure the protection of the party leadership.
