SUKKUR: Like in other parts of the country, the 70th birthday of President Asif Ali Zardari was celebrated in Thatta district, reflecting the enduring reverence he commands within party ranks and among democratic loyalists.

The ceremony organised under the banner of the Pakistan Peoples Party was held at Zamin House, Ghorabari -- the political bastion and residence of Sindh Minister for Works, Services, and Prisons, Haji Ali Hassan Zardari.

The event brought together a broad spectrum of PPP leadership and grassroots activists who gathered to pay homage to President Zardari’s political journey, characterised by patience, reconciliation, and institutional strengthening.

Prominent among the speakers were PPP District President Sadiq Ali Memon, Vice President Abdul Hameed Panhwar, General Secretary Imtiaz Qureshi, Information Secretary Syed Mehmood Alam Shah Bukhari, and energetic young leader Ashique Ali Zardari, along with party stalwarts like Ramzan Panhwar and several dedicated members from various wings of the party.

In their addresses, the speakers extolled President Zardari’s sagacious leadership and his historic role in navigating the PPP and the nation through turbulent political waters with remarkable calm and strategic foresight.

They hailed him as the architect of democratic consolidation in Pakistan, underscoring landmark achievements such as the passage of the 18th, 19th, and 20th Constitutional Amendments, which redefined federal-provincial relations and restored the parliamentary character of the state.

The speakers highlighted his pivotal role in the abolition of Article 58(2)(b), the empowerment of provinces through the equitable National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, and the restoration of the 1973 Constitution in its original democratic spirit.

Equally lauded were his unwavering commitments to institutional balance, parliamentary supremacy, and the independence of the judiciary and media — achievements that collectively positioned him as a silent reformer of Pakistan’s democratic architecture.

The gathering concluded with heartfelt prayers for President Zardari’s long life and robust health, while participants renewed their pledge of allegiance to his vision — a vision rooted in democratic endurance, inclusive governance, and national unity.

The occasion not only celebrated a personal milestone but also reaffirmed the ideological continuity of the PPP under his stewardship -- a legacy of resilience, reconciliation, and reform.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took to social media on Saturday to extend a warm and deeply personal birthday tribute to his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

In a post shared on X, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed admiration for his father s enduring strength and the life lessons he has imparted. Happy 70th Birthday to the man who taught me resilience, patience, and the true meaning of loyalty -- my father, President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal wrote. Your unwavering strength through every storm continues to inspire me each day. May this new decade bring you the peace, health, and love you so deeply deserve.

Meanwhile, Pakistan People s Party-Parliamentarians (PPPP) Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on Saturday paid glowing tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari on his 70th birthday, celebrating his role in strengthening democracy and steering the country out of major political and economic crises.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the PPP Central Secretariat in Islamabad, Nayyar Bukhari congratulated party workers and supporters, calling President Zardari a symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and democratic values.

President Zardari fulfilled the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for a progressive and democratic Pakistan, he said. Highlighting Zardari s political legacy, Bukhari said that during his first presidential term, Zardari voluntarily transferred his constitutional powers to Parliament, strengthening the democratic system. In the aftermath of Benazir Bhutto s martyrdom, it was President Zardari who united the nation with his slogan Pakistan Khappay , Bukhari added.

He credited Zardari with major national initiatives, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) agreement and the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. President Zardari is the architect of CPEC and the protector of the Constitution, he said, adding that he endured years of unjust imprisonment and made unmatched sacrifices for the country.

Bukhari praised Zardari as the only civilian President in Pakistan s history to complete a five-year term and be elected again for a second term. Through his leadership, the poorest segments of society were given a voice. He initiated the Benazir Income Support Programme, gave identity to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Pakhtuns, provided rights to the Baloch people, and raised his voice for the people of Kashmir.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of PPP leaders and workers, including Senator Shahadat Awan, Chaudhry Manzoor, Syed Sibtul Haider Bukhari, Raja Imran Ashraf, Nargis Faiz Malik, representatives of the lawyers wing, women s wing, minority wing, PSF, and People s Youth Organisation. Jiyalas raised slogans in praise of Zardari, chanting Jiye Bhutto, Pakistan Khappay, and Zardari Sab Se Yaari.

The event concluded with speeches from senior leaders and a reaffirmation of the party s commitment to Zardari s vision for a democratic and inclusive Pakistan.
