ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to get the computerised national identity card (CNIC) of a mysterious character, Komal Ismail, blocked by the National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra).

During the hearing of petitions seeking the constitution of a commission on blasphemy allegations, the high court inquired about compliance with a court order with regard to production of Komal.

FIA officials told the IHC that their team went to Komal Ismail’s address where her nephew told them that Komal had got married and no longer lived there. The officials said that when they went to her father-in-law’s house, he said that she had left the house. The IHC was informed that the search for Komal was under way.

Nadra has confirmed the identity of the mysterious girl Iman (Komal Ismail) who was with the accused in these cases. Justice Khan asked why her identity card had not been blocked. The bench observed that blocking of the identity card was for ensuring her appearance before the court and it would be restored once she appeared.

A lawyer, Rao Abdul Rahim, said the court had passed an order against him in the last hearing without providing him the opportunity of hearing. To this, Justice Khan observed that the counsel should know that the hearing was going on on a daily basis and he should have been present earlier before the court. The IHC observed that the counsel’s arguments would be heard on his turn. Later, the high court adjourned the hearing of the case till today.
