GLOW ON THE GO

Mother’s Day, which falls on 10th May this year, usually brings a softer, more sentimental tone to conversations around mothers. Flowers, messages and expressions of gratitude often take centre stage. But beyond the celebrations, there is another side to motherhood that rarely gets the same attention: the everyday rush of getting ready for the day while everyone else is still figuring out theirs. Morning routines in many homes start before the sun settles into its full heat. Fans are already spinning, phones are buzzing with reminders, lunch boxes are being packed and someone is asking where a school sock has disappeared. In between all of this, there is a small, almost invisible ritual that repeats itself in different corners of the city: a woman standing in front of a mirror, trying to look ready in ten minutes or less. From home to outside. From private chaos to public presence. From mother, organiser, problem-solver to a woman stepping into her own day.

Ten minutes is not enough for perfection. But it is enough for intention.

This is not about full routines or long beauty steps. It is about what actually gets done when time is short and life is louder than the mirror. This week, You! shares quick, no-fuss beauty routines busy mothers rely on to get through busy days. Pick what suits you…

The one-line wonder

If you only have a few minutes, keep your routine tight and repeatable. Start with a basic face wash and a light moisturiser that absorbs quickly in the heat. Skip anything that needs blending or multiple steps. Rely on one product that makes the most difference, eyeliner. A clean, simple line can instantly make your face look more awake without needing anything else. Stick to a style you already know well so you do not waste time fixing it. Avoid foundation in summer mornings. It feels heavy and rarely lasts through heat and humidity. Let your skin breathe instead of trying to perfect it. If you have an extra few seconds, add a neutral lipstick. If not, leave it. The idea is to have a routine you can finish without thinking. The key here is consistency. When you repeat the same steps every day, getting ready becomes faster and easier.

SPF, lipstick, repeat

Build your routine around what actually holds up in the heat. Start with sunscreen and apply it properly. Even on busy mornings, do not skip or rush this step, it sets the base for everything else. Once that is done, move straight to lipstick. A single swipe of colour can lift your face without needing foundation or layers. Choose shades that work for both day and work settings so you do not have to think twice. Skip heavy base products. Let your natural skin show, even if it gets a little shiny or flushed. It usually looks more natural than makeup melting off. If you have time, add mascara. If not, your look is still complete. This routine works best because it is low effort and heat-friendly. Choose products that do not need constant touch-ups so you can move through the day without checking the mirror.

Good skin, no fuss

If you prefer a no-makeup look, focus on keeping your skin in good condition instead of covering it up. Stick to a simple routine: cleanse, moisturise and apply sunscreen. Choose lightweight products, especially in summer, so your skin does not feel heavy or sticky through the day. The goal is to stay comfortable, not layered. Skip foundation and contour in the morning. If needed, use a small amount of concealer only where required, like under the eyes. Consistency matters more than multiple products. A simple routine done regularly works better than a long routine you cannot keep up with. When your skin is cared for over time, you do not need much in the morning. Keep it minimal and practical.

Ready between everything else

If your mornings are constantly interrupted, break your routine into small steps. Do what you can, when you can. Apply moisturiser, step away, come back and do the next thing.

GLOW ON THE GO

Use products that are quick and forgiving. Kajal, tinted moisturiser and compact powder are easier to apply without precision and can be done in seconds. Avoid anything that needs careful blending or too much time. Choose items that you can apply even if you are in a rush or distracted. In summer, keep everything lighter and faster. Heat will undo anything too heavy or detailed anyway. Before leaving, do a quick check: something on the eyes, something on the lips, hair managed enough for the day. You do not need a perfect routine. You need one that fits into your morning without slowing you down.
