THE GLAM VERDICT

Maria Gul Jan is a new sensation in the entertainment industry who is being appreciated not only for her acting but also for her mesmerizing looks. This beautiful actor is currently working in three on-air serials – ‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’, ‘Khawbon Mein Milay’ and ‘Meri Bahuain’. Her other hit serials include ‘Inteqam’, ‘Dastak Makafaat’ and ‘Dikhawa’. What’s more, this pretty girl is also an advocate – a perfect combination of beauty and brains. Her aplomb and demeanour say a lot about a potential actor and a successful lawyer in the making.

So, what’s the secret behind Maria’s glowing skin and charming looks that make her stand out in a crowd? In a candid interview with You! Maria shares her skincare routine and beauty secrets. Read on…

What’s your go-to makeup look?

A soft glam look - dewy skin, nude lips, a bit of blush and subtle eyeliner. It’s simple yet polished and works for almost any occasion.

Do you remember when you first fell in love with makeup?

Yes! I think it was in college when I experimented with kajal for the first time. Seeing how a little makeup could boost my confidence made me fall in love with it instantly.

Any safety rituals you follow when stepping out into the sun?

I always wear sunscreen - that’s non-negotiable. I also carry sunglasses and a light face mist to keep my skin fresh and protected.

Any skincare advice for the winter season?

Hydration is key. Drink a lot of water for glowy skin. Use a thicker moisturiser to give you a smooth base. Last but not least, avoid hot showers that dry out your skin, especially in winter.

What are your top picks for perfumes and lipsticks?

For perfume, I love Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Dior J’adore. For lipsticks, MAC Velvet Teddy and Maybelline Touch of Spice are my go-to shades. Also, the Charlotte Tilbury gloss is a must.

Finding the perfect foundation is no easy feat. What’s your preferred tone?

A neutral beige with warm undertones - it blends seamlessly with my skin and gives a natural, smooth and flawless finish.

After a long day, how do you cleanse your face?

I double cleanse - first with micellar water, coconut oil, or a cleansing balm - then use a gentle foaming face wash, followed by toner and moisturiser. I also advise girls to take care of their skin from an early age and never forget to cleanse their skin after wearing makeup.

Hair damage is every girl’s nightmare. How do you tackle it?

I use a nourishing hair mask once a week, minimise heat styling and get regular trims to prevent split ends.

What are your go-to tips for maintaining healthy hair?

THE GLAM VERDICT

Avoid over-washing, oil your hair regularly, eat a balanced diet, and stay hydrated. If you want to protect your hair from damage, you should get a trim regularly, at least every two months. Healthy hair starts from within.

Not everyone can afford high-end makeup. What’s your advice for them?

Focus on technique rather than brand. There are amazing drugstore options out there - it’s how you apply them that makes the difference.

What does your diet look like to keep that glow going?

Lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts and plenty of water. I also try to avoid excessive sugar and processed foods.

Is there a cosmetic you simply can’t live without?

Lip balm. My lips feel incomplete without it - and it adds that little touch of freshness to the face.

When it comes to makeup brands, which ones top your list?

I love Charlotte Tilbury and NARS. Both have amazing quality and shades for every skin tone.

What essentials do you always carry in your beauty bag?

Lip gloss, blotting papers and a small perfume bottle.

Is there anything that scares you when applying makeup?

Overdoing contour or foundation - I always aim for a natural finish, not a cakey one. Unfortunately, women here are obsessed with wearing a lot of foundation in a bid to look fair. It’s a total no in my dictionary!

How often do you pamper yourself with a facial at the salon?

Usually once a month, but I do mini facials at home weekly.

What’s your daily beauty regimen?

Cleanse, tone, moisturise, apply sunscreen, and keep it light during the day. At night, I double-cleanse and use a hydrating serum.

Where do you usually shop for your makeup goodies?

Mostly online - Sephora or official brand websites. Occasionally from local beauty stores too.

What’s your take on whitening creams?

I don’t support them. Being gora is not beauty - it’s not about changing your skin tone; it’s about having healthy, glowing skin in every shade.

Finally, what does the word ‘beauty’ mean to you?

Beauty, to me, is confidence and kindness. It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin and radiating positivity.
