Rising Beyond Boundaries

For many women growing up in traditional societies, ambition often comes wrapped in challenges: limited opportunities, societal norms and the constant need to prove oneself. Yet, it is within these constraints that some of the strongest leaders are forged. This story is one of those journeys, a path defined not just by professional achievement, but by the determination to transform limitations into possibility.

From navigating the pressures of higher education to entering the fast-paced world of technology, Ayesha Shaikh career reflects a blend of perseverance and purpose. What began with a foundation in social sciences evolved into a meaningful role in tech governance, compliance and global communication - an unlikely but powerful shift driven by curiosity, adaptability and a desire to create impact in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Today, working with SI Global Solutions, a company operating across various countries including the UAE, the USA, Pakistan and Canada, she stands at the intersection of global exposure and local relevance, witnessing firsthand how diverse cultures and markets shape stronger, more inclusive businesses.

Rising Beyond Boundaries

However, Ayesha’s journey is not without challenges. Her story is one of resilience and determination. Read on…

What motivated you to switch to your field from social sciences to tech?

My foundation in the social sciences provided deep insight into people, systems and organisational dynamics but I felt driven to apply this knowledge within the rapidly evolving world of technology. For me, technology is not just about innovation - it’s a catalyst for progress. Working at ‘SI Global Solutions’ allowed me to connect human understanding with digital transformation, leveraging my analytical strengths to make meaningful contributions in governance, compliance and corporate communication.

What has your experience been working at a company with both local and international operations?

It has been a remarkable experience. Since we operate in multiple regions - Pakistan, the UAE, the USA and Canada - the exposure to global corporate practices while maintaining local relevance has been incredibly enriching. It has strengthened my adaptability and broadened my perspective on how business, culture and governance intersect across different markets.

Rising Beyond Boundaries

What are your challenges as a woman in a leadership position?

It’s tough, yes, but also deeply empowering. As a woman in leadership, you constantly balance expectations, proving competence while staying authentic. You often have to speak twice as firmly to be heard once, but the environment in my organisation is built on merit, not gender. I’m fortunate to work with leaders like our CEO, Dr Noman Ahmed Said, who encourages women’s empowerment and inclusion at every level of the organisation.

How do you balance your professional life and personal life?

Balancing professional commitments with personal responsibilities has always been one of the biggest challenges. I have coped by building discipline, setting priorities and surrounding myself with a support system that believes in my vision. Learning to adapt and delegate has also been key; it allows me to lead effectively without losing balance.

What are your new goals for your professional career?

My next goal is to contribute more strategically in my current role, particularly in the areas of governance, compliance frameworks and global expansion. I also want to mentor young women professionals - especially those transitioning from non-technical backgrounds - to help them navigate leadership roles in technology-driven environments.

What is the most important advice you can give to women?

Believe in your capabilities and never let fear dictate your choices. Success doesn’t come overnight; it’s built through consistency, hard work, learning and integrity. Seek mentors, take ownership of your growth and remember: confidence and humility can coexist. Be proud of your journey, no matter how small each step may seem.

What is the role of your family in your career?

Family support has been the foundation of my success. My family has always encouraged me to dream beyond limitations. At the same time, the leadership and senior management have been incredibly supportive, especially Dr Noman Ahmed Said who has been a true mentor. His vision for inclusivity, empowerment and professional growth has created an environment where women leaders can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the company’s mission.

What is the most important life-lesson you have learned over the years?

Over the years, I have learned that careers are not confined by degrees but shaped by curiosity, adaptability and courage. What you learn in practical life is incomparable to what you study in theory. It’s a different world out there, and one must tap into one’s true potential to achieve success.

What is the secret of your professional success?

I believe it is my resilience. My path has been a roller coaster ride - bending, shifting and evolving with every challenge confronted and every opportunity embraced.

Her journey reinforces a powerful message: when determination meets opportunity and when leadership champions inclusion, there are no limits to what women can achieve.
