Three immovable properties have been confiscated in Islamabad by the Commissionerate of Anti-Benami Zone-I as part of an ongoing crackdown against benami assets.

The properties include: Plot No. 238 (corner) measuring 520 square yards, Plot No. 495 (corner) measuring 600 square yards, and Plot No. 515 (corner) measuring 600 square yards, all located in Block 11 of the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS), Islamabad.

All rights and titles of the properties now vest absolutely in the federal government, a press release said. The action was taken to implement confiscation orders passed by the Benami Transactions Adjudicating Authority.

A reference was filed before the authority by Benami Zone Islamabad following a thorough investigation, which revealed that the registered owner was neither listed with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) nor possessed sufficient resources to acquire the properties.

The investigation concluded that the owner was a suspicious fictitious individual acting on behalf of a concealed beneficial owner.

The adjudicating authority upheld these findings and issued confiscation orders, which were enforced through possession of the properties by the Commissionerate of Benami Zone-I Islamabad.

The three Benami Zones under the Directorate General of Anti-Benami Initiative have so far filed more than 230 references involving various categories of assets, including shares, bank accounts, vehicles, and land and buildings.

Benami Zone-I Islamabad has been actively identifying and addressing benami properties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi Division, and the Islamabad Capital Territory. The confiscation of these plots marks a step in the government's efforts to eliminate benami transactions and promote transparency in property ownership, the statement read.
