LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), organised a roadshow on the Industry Business-Led Training and Job Placement Programme to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and promote demand-driven skills development for Pakistan’s youth.
Addressing the event, Director-General of NAVTTC’s Regional Office Punjab Asfa Maqbool said the commission has consistently worked closely with the private sector, as industries are best placed to identify the skills required by the labour market.
She said the Industry Business-Led Training and Job Placement Programme had been designed to ensure that government-funded training directly addresses market needs and leads to sustainable employment opportunities.
Maqbool expressed confidence that, with the active involvement of the LCCI, industries would help identify genuine skills gaps, nominate eligible trainees and facilitate their placement upon successful completion of training.
NAVTTC Consultant Mudassir Iqbal delivered a detailed presentation on the programme’s objectives, implementation framework and the opportunities available to participants. He outlined its key features and highlighted its role in improving the employability of unemployed youth.
NAVTTC officials said the chamber’s support would be vital in ensuring that deserving young people receive training aligned with industry requirements.Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol stressed that equipping young people with market-relevant technical and vocational skills is essential for expanding employment opportunities and enhancing industrial productivity.He said investment in skills development should be treated as a national priority.
