CCTV footage of a police encounter in New Karachi Industrial Area has surfaced showing two suspected street criminals being killed during an exchange of fire with the Shaheen Force of the District Central police.
According to a statement issued by the District Central SSP’s spokesperson, the encounter took place near the Khatri Hospital in Sector 5-D within the limits of the New Karachi Industrial Area police station. Police said the suspects opened fire on a Shaheen Force patrolling team after being intercepted triggering a gun battle. Both the suspects were killed in the exchange of fire.
The CCTV footage allegedly shows the suspects firing at the Shaheen Force personnel who returned fire while exercising caution due to the presence of civilians in the area. Police said women, children, elderly people and other passers-by were present near the scene at the time of the encounter. Despite the crowded surroundings, both suspects were killed and no civilian casualties or injuries were reported.
The District Central police said details about the suspects such as their identities and the weapons found on them would be shared after the completion of legal formalities. The spokesperson said the Shaheen Force remained committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens and would continue its operations against street criminals across the district.
