Expressing dissatisfaction with the SSP (East) and Sachal SHO’s replies to show-cause notices issued to them over non-compliance with its orders, a civil court has directed the Karachi police chief to initiate appropriate departmental proceedings against the “delinquent officials responsible for such misconduct under the applicable service laws and disciplinary rules.”
The direction came in a civil suit pertaining to alleged illegal possession of a property. Senior Civil Judge (Malir) Waheed Ahmed directed the additional inspector general (AIG) Karachi to consider replacing the present Sachal SHO with a competent and responsible officer who demonstrates due respect for the rule of law, the authority of the courts and the constitutional obligation to facilitate, rather than frustrate the administration of justice.
The court also ordered deployment of adequate and effective police contingent for execution of the court’s order dated May 19 within seven days. The judge noted that on June 2, the Nazir along with police force and revenue officials visited the suit property for compliance with the court orders when illegal occupants resorted to straight firing on them, adding that the Nazir reported the incident to the Sachal police station and informed the SSP through letters.
“Unfortunately, such incident was not recorded/incorporated in FIR, though the incident was cognizable, hence this court passed ordered dated 24-06-2026, wherein issued misconduct report to quarter concerned against the above delinquent officials and required again for compliance of court orders and registration of FIR. Unfortunately, the SHO and SSP Karachi East again failed, hence a show-cause notice issued to them for alleged continuously violation of the court orders.” He said the response to the court’s show-cause notice had been examined with due care and was found to be “wholly unsatisfactory, evasive, and devoid of any legal justification.”
