KARACHI: K-Solar (Pvt) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of K-Electric’s investment arm, KE Ventures Company (Pvt) Limited, and Mingyang Smart Energy Group Limited, a wind turbine manufacturer and supplier of utility-scale and industrial Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), have signed an agreement to introduce Mingyang’s energy solutions to Pakistan’s industrial sector.
Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), K-Solar and Mingyang will collaborate to market, supply and finance wind power projects and BESS solutions for the grid as well as the commercial and industrial sectors in Pakistan. The partnership will also lay the groundwork for establishing a BESS assembly plant in the country.
The two companies will follow up the MoU with a formal framework agreement in the coming weeks, according to a statement issued by K-Electric on Thursday.Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, chairperson of K-Solar, said: “Wind power has been gaining significant attention in Pakistan’s energy transition, offering a competitive and low levelised tariff that makes it an attractive complement to the country’s existing generation mix. As Pakistan moves towards a more diversified and resilient energy system, the potential for BESS remains substantial in supporting grid stability, managing intermittency and unlocking the full value of renewable energy generation.”
Hashim Raza, chief executive officer of K-Solar, said: “Pakistan’s energy transition depends on bringing together world-class technology with local financing and execution capabilities. Both wind power and battery storage have seen significant cost reductions in recent years, driving a new wave of renewable energy adoption globally. The K-Solar-Mingyang partnership is well positioned to capitalise on this trend and capture a sizeable share of Pakistan’s growing wind and energy storage markets.”
Miao Desheng, general manager of Mingyang Middle East and Africa (MEA), said the company, an integrated energy solutions provider, was pleased to deepen its presence in Pakistan through the collaboration with K-Solar.
“Pakistan represents a significant growth market for wind and energy storage solutions, and partnering with K-Solar provides us with a strong local platform to capitalise on this opportunity. We look forward to working together on supplying turbines, BESS technology, associated electrical equipment and software, as well as facilitating local assembly capabilities to further support Pakistan’s transition to clean and affordable energy,” he said.
