ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Saturday issued a show-cause notice to its firebrand MNA Iqbal Afridi for his alleged gross violation of the party discipline.

A notice, bearing signature of the party’s Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, has been sent to him and he has been given seven days to submit his written response on the receipt of the notice; and failure to respond may result in further proceedings against him in accordance with the party’s constitution.

“…Therefore, you are hereby given this notice to explain why your basic membership shall not be cancelled and you be expelled from the political party PTI forthwith,” reads the notice, a copy of which is available with The News.

The notice has been issued to him on “serious allegations” which include: he has routinely misbehaved with party MNAs, which has also been, at times been captured on camera and streamed on televised news and social media; and he used derogatory language and undignified remarks about them. “You have routinely gone against parliamentary party decisions during NA proceedings. Your derogatory behaviour has not only been directed towards party MNAs but also junior and senior staff of the National Assembly,” it says.

It has also been mentioned in the document that on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, outside Adiala jail, he planned an assault on party MNAs and one of his accomplices assaulted a number of MNAs and that he was personally involved in the assault. Party members gather at Adiala for Imran Khan’s cause, and his action directly sabotaged this (move).

The notice reads, “Your actions and behaviour has brought disrepute to the party publicly and constitute serious misconduct, indiscipline and conduct prejudicial to party discipline and unity”.

A few days back, the PTI parliamentary party had also taken up this issue and lawmakers wanted severest action against the under fire legislator, after having suspended his parliamentary party membership. Afridi was elected from NA 27, Khyber, in the February 8, 2024 general election.
