MUZAFFARABAD: The 1265 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in total 45 constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir including 12 refugee constituencies for the upcoming elections to be held on July 27, 2026 for Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly.
Some 1047 candidates have filed their nomination papers against 33 constituencies within the territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while as many as 218 candidates have filed their nomination papers against 12 Kashmiri refugee seats.
According to AJK Election commission the scrutiny process in 45 constituencies have been completed and Election Commission has rejected 41 nomination papers on legal grounds however, the appeal against the rejection would be submitted from June 25 to June 28, 2026 for hearing and some 12 appeals have been submitted so far and have one more day to submit the appeals.
The hearing of appeals would be held from June 28 and June 30 consecutively whereas, the hearing of appeals would be completed from July 1 up to July 2, 2026 and the final decision would be issued on the same day (July 2, 2026).
