Pakistan, Iran agree to strengthen road, rail links

Islamabad:In a high-level bilateral meeting held today, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, met with the visiting Iranian Minister for Transport, Farzaneh Sadegh, to discuss regional connectivity, trade enhancement, and bilateral cooperation, says a press release.

The Pakistani delegation also included Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, and Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar.During the discussions, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed great pleasure over the establishment of peace in the region and lauded the unwavering determination and resilience of the Iranian people. He emphasized that future road and rail links between Pakistan and Iran will be further strengthened, noting that robust land connectivity is vital to unlocking immense trade opportunities for both nations.

To streamline bilateral logistics, both delegations thoroughly reviewed various proposals and agreed to fully activate the Pakistan-Iran Joint Transport Committee. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan assured the visiting delegation that transport-related bottlenecks between the two countries would be resolved on a priority basis.

Iranian Transport Minister Farzaneh Sadegh expressed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s positive and constructive role in halting regional conflicts and facilitating the peace agreement. “We highly value the unwavering support and cooperation of our Pakistani brothers,” Minister Sadegh stated.
