LAHORE:Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has said that the tragedy of Karbala represents the decisive battle between truth and falsehood, resistance against oppression, adherence to principles and a great sacrifice for the supremacy of faith.

In his message on Youm-e-Ashur, Hafiz Naeem said the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions is a historic chapter that will continue to inspire humanity to stand for truth until the end of time.

Rehman said that Imam Hussain (RA) did not sacrifice his life in Karbala for personal interests or power, but for a principle, an ideology and the reform of the Muslim Ummah. The fundamental purpose of his struggle was to raise a voice against an oppressive system, establish justice and protect the true spirit of religion.

He said that one of the key lessons of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) is that he refused to accept monarchy, coercion and a system based on authoritarian rule in place of the principles of Islamic governance. Through his sacrifice, he proved that remaining silent before an unjust system is not the way of those who stand for truth.

The JI chief said that Hussain (RA) remains alive today because the message of Karbala continues to exist in every struggle for truth, freedom, justice and against oppression. Yazidism is not limited to a particular era or an individual, rather it represents every system and attitude based on tyranny, exploitation, injustice and the suppression of truth through force.

Rehman said that the Muslim Ummah needs to understand the real purpose of the Karbala tragedy and play its role accordingly. In today’s world, especially in Pakistan, there is a dire need to struggle against injustice, oppression and exploitative systems. The message of Karbala teaches that societies are not transformed through silence but through sacrifice, steadfastness and a principled struggle for truth.

He said that another message of the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) is that the Ummah should strive for the implementation of the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), justice, mercy and divine guidance. The struggle for the establishment of faith, human dignity, justice and welfare is the essence of Imam Hussain’s mission.

The JI Emir said that Muharram reminds us that a life of honour lies in standing with truth. Nations that surrender before oppression lose their dignity and freedom, while those who sacrifice for truth remain alive in history.
