ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday strongly criticised the federal government for what it called the flawed and myopic economic policies, sending the country’s once fast-growing economy in a tailspin.
Speaking to the reporters here, the party leaders called on the government to prioritise the long-neglected and underdeveloped southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and address their chronic challenges without further delay.
They welcomed the US-Iran agreement as a positive development for peace in the region and broader stability. However, they stressed that while the issue was of utmost importance, the government must first put its own house in order, arguing that the country’s most popular leader and former prime minister Imran Khan had been imprisoned in fake, bogus, and politically motivated cases.
The party leaders included KP ex-finance minister Taimur Khan Jhagra, and MNAs Dawar Khan Kundi, Usama Mela, and Awais Jakhar.
Jhagra urged the government to reform the tax system and revive the economy, arguing that greater emphasis should be placed on attracting investment to effectively address the country’s mounting challenges.
