Six robbers killed in Punjab encounters

FAISALABAD: Two dacoits, including an inter-district gang ringleader, were killed during encounters with the Faisalabad police and the CCD while two other suspects, including a drug peddler, were arrested in injured condition.

According to police, a CCD team raided a hideout at Chak 218/RB in the jurisdiction of Razabad police station to arrest a criminal. The suspects opened fire on the raiding team, leading to an exchange of fire. As a result, one suspect was killed on the spot while three others escaped. The deceased was identified as Aamir Galotra, a resident of Jangar Galotran (Lalian), said to be the ringleader of an inter-district dacoity gang. In a separate incident in the Millat Town police limits, another alleged dacoit, Bilal, was killed during an encounter after police said he and his accomplices attacked a police team. Bilal was reportedly involved in multiple cases of robbery targeting citizens withdrawing cash from banks.

Meanwhile, Bachiana police arrested a suspected drug dealer, Zafar Abbas alias Safdar, in injured condition after an exchange of fire at Chak 560/GB. The police recovered 1,100 grams of methamphetamine (ice) and illegal weapons from his possession. In another operation, Sadar police arrested suspect Farhan after an encounter at Chak 225/RB.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A robber allegedly involved in inter-provincial criminal activities was reportedly killed by firing of his accomplices during an encounter with police.

He was wanted by the police of Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan districts in cases of kidnapping for ransom, murder, attempted murder, street crimes and other serious offences. He was identified as Asghar, who had also been booked for the kidnapping of the owner of Ahmed Noorani Cloth House, a local business establishment. The encounter took place in the Gajju Ji area, where police the chased the suspect.

During the pursuit, an exchange of fire took place between the police and the robbers. According to the police, the accused was later killed by the firing of his accomplices. The attackers managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness, police said. The police have constituted teams to arrest the fleeing criminals and raids are being conducted in this regard.

A police spokesman vowed that action against criminal mafias and other lawless elements would continue and assured that the culprits would be brought to justice soon.

JHANG: Sadr police carried out a targeted raid on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one suspect and the arrest of three others at Mauza Bandi Sialanwala.

According to the police, a team led by SHO Faisal Raza conducted the operation based on intelligence information. Seeing the police, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting retaliatory action. During the exchange of fire, one suspect sustained fatal injuries allegedly from shots fired by his accomplices and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The deceased was identified as Jani Noon. The police arrested three suspects - Naeem, Taufiq and Umar Daraz - while two others managed to escape. Weapons and other material were recovered from the scene.

GUJRANWALA: Two criminals were killed in an encounter with the CCD here. They were identified as Shahbaz and Luqman while their two accomplices Ali Haider and Ehsan were arrested in injured condition. Police said the group was wanted in over 65 cases of attempted murder, robbery and dacoity.
