LAHORE:A delegation of mourners (Azadars) led by Syed Ahsan Rizvi and Hussain Tirmizi called on Governor Sardar Saleem Haider at Governor’s House here on Tuesday.
Security arrangements and other administrative matters for the peaceful observance of Muharram were discussed during the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, governor said brotherhood and unity must be promoted to maintain peace and order during Muharram. He said anti-state elements seek to create chaos among the people through sectarian incitement.
He emphasised that collective efforts are needed to foil the enemy’s conspiracy. 'Muharram teaches us patience and tolerance,' he added. He said that those involved in spreading sectarian incitement during Muharram would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
The delegation apprised the governor of issues related to security and the provision of medical facilities. He assured them that their concerns would be conveyed to the administration and relevant departments for immediate action.
