HANGU: Member National Assembly (MNA) Yousaf Khan on Sunday inaugurated Phase-I of the Rs12 billion Hangu-Sarozai Road project.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers, local leaders and area elders.

Speaking on the occasion, Yousaf said the project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs12 billion and would fulfil a long-standing demand of local residents. He said the road would open new avenues for economic and social development, facilitate trade and business activities, and provide safer and better travel facilities to the public.

He said practical work on the highway had commenced and that thousands of people would benefit from the project upon its completion. The road would significantly ease transportation problems faced by residents of Hangu and nearby localities, he added.

Later, while talking to journalists, the MNA criticised the federal government, alleging that it had adopted a discriminatory attitude towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite the province’s contributions to national interests during difficult times.

He also criticised the federal budget, claiming that it had failed to meet public expectations. Yousaf reiterated his commitment to the development of Hangu and directed the relevant authorities to ensure that construction work was completed on time and in accordance with approved standards and the PC-I.
