BATKHELA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Inayatullah Khan on Sunday criticised the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging that bad governance, corruption and incompetence had paralysed the entire administrative system in the province.

Addressing a gathering in Sakhakot, he said the healthcare system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had collapsed due to widespread corruption, while the education sector was also suffering from severe mismanagement.

He said business activities had been badly affected and the business community was facing a host of challenges. He added that the pace of development in Malakand Division had come to a complete halt, alleging that development projects worth billions of rupees had either been terminated or frozen, which he termed a grave injustice to the people of the region.

Inayatullah claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was facing worsening law and order, corruption, bad governance, unannounced power outages and maladministration, while key sectors such as health and education were on the verge of collapse.

He said the people of Malakand Division were deprived of their rights and their issues were being ignored. He maintained that the absence of effective representation of the division in the National Assembly had further aggravated public problems.

Criticising the federal budget, he said ‘oppressive taxes’ had been imposed on the people of Malakand Division, including sales tax and income tax, despite the region being a tax-free zone.

The JI leader took a swipe at PTI, saying that despite its claims of ending dynastic politics, the party was distributing ministerial portfolios on the basis of likes and dislikes. He alleged that most of the political parties had become confined to a few families.

He said the JI was a democratic and ideological party where leadership emerged on merit. Referring to the party’s ‘Badal Do Nizam’ campaign under the leadership of JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, he said the movement was a serious effort to rid the country of corruption, incompetence and dynastic politics. He added that a membership drive was being carried out across the country, including Malakand Division.

Questioning the state of affairs in the region, Inayatullah asked why the people of Malakand Division had been left to suffer from prolonged power outages, insecurity and dilapidated roads. He held the PTI-led provincial government responsible for the situation.

He urged the public to join the JI’s membership campaign and support efforts aimed at establishing a transparent, just and people-friendly system. He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continue raising the issues of Malakand Division and striving for the rights of its people at every forum.
