A high-level security meeting chaired by the Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) was held at the Rangers Headquarters on Friday to review the law and order situation in Karachi, with a special focus on security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the meeting was attended by the Inspector General of Sindh Police, Additional IG Karachi, Special Secretary of the Home Department, Joint Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), DIGs of West, Shaheed Benazirabad, Traffic, CIA, CTD, South, East and Special Branch, Additional Commissioner Karachi-II, and other senior officials from the police, Rangers and intelligence agencies.

Participants conducted a detailed review of security measures for Muharram processions and approved a comprehensive security plan aimed at ensuring peace and public safety during the holy month. The meeting decided that joint flag marches and snap-checking operations by Rangers and police would be further intensified during Muharram. Officials also emphasised the need to ensure security for gatherings, majalis and processions of all schools of thought.

The DG Rangers directed all concerned agencies to maintain close coordination and enhance intelligence-sharing mechanisms to proactively counter any potential threats. He also ordered stricter checking at inter-provincial entry and exit points across Sindh. The meeting further resolved to ensure strict implementation of the approved code of conduct for Muharram.

On the occasion, law enforcement authorities appealed to members of all schools of thought to cooperate in maintaining peace, harmony and religious tolerance throughout the province during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The public was also urged to immediately report any suspicious activity, miscreants or untoward incidents to deployed Rangers personnel, the Rangers helpline 1101, or the Rangers WhatsApp helpline.
