Islamabad:Director General Safe City and DIG Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joya chaired a high-level meeting at Safe City Islamabad to review and enhance the framework of the online taxi verification application.
The meeting brought together Assistant Director Safe City Abbas Mehdi, senior police officers, representatives from various online ride-hailing companies, and drivers to discuss public safety measures. The primary focus of the consultation was to increase the number of drivers registered within the system and to maximize the overall effectiveness of the verification app.
Speaking on the occasion, DG Safe City emphasised that the initiative is specifically designed to ensure safer travel for the residents of the federal capital, with a particular focus on the security of women who frequently utilize online transport services.
Through this collaborative framework, the Islamabad Police and private ride-hailing providers aim to authenticate drivers and vehicles, enabling more efficient monitoring and a swift response to any untoward incidents. Officials noted that tracking the movement of booked vehicles will significantly contribute to crime prevention and public safety, while assuring the public that the personal data and privacy of all passengers will remain strictly protected.
To utilize the safety feature, commuters can download the official verification application directly from the Islamabad Police website. Once a ride is booked, passengers can scan a QR code displayed inside the vehicle to instantly verify if the driver and car are registered with the police database.
The Islamabad Police have urged the public to immediately report any unverified vehicles or motorcycles offering commercial ride services via the ICTP App, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
