LAHORE:Police and Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a joint operation in the Jallo Park area of Batapur and recovered a large quantity of hazardous meat from an illegal slaughterhouse operating inside a residential locality.

The raid was carried out at a house where an unauthorised slaughter facility was functioning. During the operation, officers recovered meat of three dead animals stored in freezers, while two severely ill animals were also taken into custody. Authorities said the premises were found in highly unhygienic conditions, where meat was being processed directly on the ground, posing a serious risk to public health.

The alleged mastermind, identified as Safdar Ali, was arrested on the spot and a case was registered against him at Batapur police station. Officials said further legal action is being taken under the Punjab Food Authority Act and Animal Slaughter Control laws, adding that strict action would continue against those endangering public health.
