PESHAWAR: Two station house officers (SHOs) were suspended while three were issued show-cause notices and five were warned for not performing well to maintain law and order in their respective areas.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed Ahmad chaired a meeting to review the performance of district police and discuss security arrangements for the upcoming Muharram.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SSP Investigation Ayesha Gul, Commandant Campus Mujeeb ur Rahman, divisional SPs, investigation SPs, SDPOs and SHOs from across the district.
The meeting assessed the performance of the police stations.
Following the public complaints and unsatisfactory performance, the SHOs of Rehman Baba and Hassankhel police stations were suspended and directed to report to the police lines.
Show-cause notices were issued to the SHOs of Matani, Inqilab and Urmar police stations over their performance.
The SHOs of Regi, Shahpur, Khazana, Kotwali and Agha Mir Jani Shah police stations were warned to improve performance, while cash rewards were announced for the SHOs of Sharqi, Bhanamari and Shah Qabool police stations.
The CCPO emphasised that public service, protection of citizens’ lives and property, and timely resolution of public disputes are the primary responsibilities of the police. He warned that negligence in duty would not be tolerated and reiterated that strict implementation of accountability and merit-based rewards and punishments would continue to transform Peshawar police into a model force.
