ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi on Wednesday underscored the importance of close cooperation between the bench and the legal fraternity, saying effective and efficient dispensation of justice depended on continued engagement and collaboration between the two.

The chief justice made the remarks during an interactive and consultative meeting with representatives of bar associations at the Supreme Court as part of ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts in the justice sector. According to a press release, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, District Bar Associations of Bahawalnagar and Sheikhupura, Tehsil Bar Associations of Kabirwala, Mian Channu and Yazman, as well as the Islamabad Bar Association. Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan also attended the session.

The discussions focused on judicial reforms, facilitation of lawyers and litigants, improvements in case management systems, reduction of procedural delays, enhanced access to justice and professional development opportunities for young lawyers.
