Islamabad:Three doctors at the Burns Care Centre of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have moved the Islamabad High Court, challenging the appointment of Dr Abdul Khaliq as their supervisor.

Dr Ibrahim, Dr Ali Mujtaba and Dr Rizwanullah contend that Dr Khaliq, a contractual employee, was ineligible for the position, so the court’s intervention was necessary. The dispute intensified after the executive director of PIMS issued orders for terminating the training of Dr Ali Mujtaba and Dr Rizwanullah from the MS Burns Surgery residency programme.

The doctors challenged the move in the IHC, which suspended the termination orders and restored their residency status pending further proceedings. The matter is under adjudication before the high court.
