A judicial magistrate on Tuesday granted bail to a man arrested for allegedly filming a woman taking bath through a bathroom ventilator.

The suspect, Sabir, has been arrested and booked under Section 509 (insulting modesty or causing sexual harassment) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). On Tuesday, the police produced the suspect before the judicial magistrate (West), who granted him post-arrest bail against a surety of Rs10,000. However, the suspect was later sent to prison on judicial remand over failure to pay the surety.

An FIR has been registered on the complaint of the woman’s husband at the Baldia Town police station. The complainant stated that on May 29, his wife was taking bath in the washroom when she suddenly raised an alarm and said someone from the street was recording a video through the bathroom ventilator. He said he went outside the home, but no one was present there.

He said that later, when footage of CCTV camera installed in the neighbourhood was checked, it was found that a man was indeed seen recording a video and then running away after his wife raised alarm.
