Police detain 67 suspects in combing operations

Islamabad:In a bid to ensure foolproof security across the federal capital, Islamabad Police have launched large-scale grand combing and search operations in various parts of the city on the directives of the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad.

According to a police spokesperson, the IG Islamabad has ordered comprehensive search operations throughout the district as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order, prevent criminal activity, and enhance public safety.

During the past 48 hours, search operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of Hamak, Sangjani, Secretariat, Bhara Kahu, Golra, Shams Colony, Khanna, Shalimar, Tarnol, Industrial Area, Aabpara, Koral, Kirpa, and Phulgran police stations. The operations were conducted under the supervision of zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs), with female police officers also actively participating.

During the operations, police teams checked a total of 1,180 individuals and verified 517 households. Authorities also inspected 32 hotels and 138 shops, while 550 motorcycles and 153 vehicles were subjected to thorough scrutiny. As a result of the search campaign, 67 suspicious individuals and 52 motorcycles were shifted to the respective police stations for further verification and investigation.

Police also arrested suspects found in possession of illegal weapons and recovered one Kalashnikov rifle and one pistol along with ammunition. To further strengthen security measures, special checking points have been established at all major entry and exit routes of the city. Meanwhile, all patrolling units and special police squads have been deployed across Islamabad to maintain vigilance and respond swiftly to any potential threat.

Islamabad Police have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement personnel during checking procedures and immediately report any suspicious activity.
