CHARSADDA: The special cleanliness campaign launched by the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Charsadda, on the occasion of Eidul Azha has concluded successfully.

During the five-day operation, over 200 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste and other garbage were collected from the city and surrounding areas and disposed of properly.According to the TMA officials, the administration considered its existing workforce sufficient and did not hire any daily-wage workers on a temporary basis during the Eid operation.

Officials said that 55 TMA personnel participated in the cleanliness drive and ensured timely sanitation services across various localities. Workers collected animal offal and waste from slaughter sites, streets, markets, and public places, transporting it to designated disposal points. The effort helped reduce foul odours and minimise environmental pollution risks.

Sources within the TMA said that the Commissioner of Peshawar Division had directed local authorities to recruit 50 additional daily-wage workers for five days during Eid to further strengthen sanitation arrangements. However, the TMA Charsadda administration opted not to make any temporary appointments, maintaining that the available workforce was adequate to meet operational requirements.

The Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) said the department’s permanent staff performed their duties efficiently, where various areas were monitored continuously throughout the campaign, while special teams remained active to address public complaints promptly.
