Islamabad : As Eid comes to an end, transport hubs are witnessing a significant rush of travellers returning to Islamabad after celebrating the festival in their hometowns, with busy terminals reflecting the scale of post-Eid movement.

Various footage and videos circulating on social media and television channels show overcrowded terminals, long queues and passengers struggling to secure seats, highlighting the intensity of the post-Eid rush across major transport and railway stations.

Some passengers, however, expressed satisfaction as they returned to Islamabad after Eid holidays, saying they were happy to resume work on Monday and rejoin their routines after spending quality time with family.

They described the post-Eid journey as tiring but fulfilling, marking the end of the festive break and a return to normal life.

Citizens of Islamabad said the city looked unusually quiet and deserted during Eid holidays, with reduced traffic and empty streets giving it a calm appearance.

However, they noted that life has quickly returned to normal after Eid, as workers and residents are back, restoring the city’s usual busy routine.

Travellers said they faced heavy rush, long waiting hours and difficulty in getting tickets, adding that transport terminals were overcrowded and poorly managed during the peak post-Eid movement.

Many passengers described the journey back as exhausting due to the large crowds and limited seating availability.

Some passengers complained about the unavailability of tickets and an increase in fares during the post-Eid rush, saying they were forced to pay higher prices or wait for long hours at crowded terminals.

They also expressed concern over mismanagement at transport stands, which added to their difficulties while returning to Islamabad.

Transport officials also claimed that strict action is being taken against those overcharging or minting money from travellers during the post-Eid rush, saying that fines are being imposed on violators to ensure fair fares and smooth travel conditions for passengers returning to Islamabad.

Punjab Transport minister reiterated that strict fines are being imposed on those found overcharging passengers during the post-Eid rush, aiming to ensure fair fares and smoother travel for commuters returning to Islamabad and other cities.
