RAWALPINDI: Australian ODI skipper Josh Inglis has praised Pakistan’s hospitality and expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming ODI series, insisting his side is well-prepared despite injury setbacks and bowling absences.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the series, Inglis said the Australian team had been warmly received since arriving in Pakistan, describing the welcome as “very nice and very hospitable.” He acknowledged the setback of captain Mitchell Marsh being ruled out due to fitness concerns, calling him “an important member of the side and a world-class player,” but maintained that Australia’s squad depth remained strong enough to cope.

Addressing questions over the absence of several frontline fast bowlers, Inglis dismissed suggestions that it would weaken his team’s competitiveness. “We have talented fast bowlers available,” he said, adding that Australia would approach the series with full confidence and according to a well-defined plan. Inglis also rejected the notion that Pakistan national cricket team would enjoy any special advantage on home soil, stating that conditions would not alter Australia’s mindset.

“There is no advantage for Pakistan in this series,” he remarked firmly, emphasizing that his side’s focus would remain solely on executing their game plan and playing disciplined cricket. Looking ahead to the opening match in Rawalpindi, Inglis said that the final decision on whether to bat or bowl first would be made after assessing conditions at the toss, noting that the hot weather in Rawalpindi would be a key factor. “We will decide tomorrow whether to bat or bowl. The focus is simply on playing good cricket,” he added.
