Rawalpindi:The public sector hospitals in the region including the three teaching hospitals in town and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology will not provide services at their outpatient departments for three days, from Tuesday (today) to Thursday in connection with holidays announced for Eidul Azha however, all hospitals in the Punjab province would remain on high alert during Eid holidays.
Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Government of the Punjab has directed all teaching hospitals in the province to remain on high alert round the clock, with standby arrangements for medical, surgical and specialized care, to promptly respond to any unforeseen emergencies and to ensure continuous and effective medical services during Eidul Azha holidays.
The emergency departments of all public sector hospitals including RIC, Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital would operate as per routine round the clock during the holidays.
The RIC would provide all kinds of services in its emergency department during Eid holidays and the patients requiring angiography or angioplasty would be facilitated round the clock, said Medical Superintendent at RIC Dr. Qurban Hussain Khan while talking to ‘The News’ on Monday.
He added the emergency department of the hospital has been further strengthened and the duty rosters of emergency department, indoor patient department, operation theatres and pharmacies have already been finalized and distributed among the staff for Eid holidays. Each and every patient reaching RIC in an emergency would be provided all types of services and facilities available at the RIC, he said.
Dr. Qurban said the necessary administrative staff would also be present in the hospital during Eid holidays to run the hospital smoothly. “I would be available at my office during the holidays”, he added.
During Eid holidays, from Tuesday to Thursday, only accident and emergency departments of the allied hospitals would be operational while the outpatient departments and main operation theatres at HFH, BBH and RTH shall remain closed. According to the administrations of the allied hospitals, all patients vising the hospitals would be received at their accident and emergency departments which have been strengthened to accommodate extra burden of patients during the holidays.
The administrations of the allied hospitals have already prepared and distributed duty rosters for the staff on Eid holidays. Indoor patient departments and emergency departments at the allied hospitals would operate as per routine and the staff at operation theatres at the emergency departments would remain available to patients round the clock during Eid holidays.
