LAHORE: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team left Lahore on Monday for Dublin, via Dubai, to take part in a vital T20 tri-nation series against Ireland and the West Indies, the team’s management confirmed.
The tri-series, seen as a key component of Pakistan’s final preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, begins with Pakistan’s opening match against Ireland on May 29. The touring party will play a total of four matches across the tri-series, using the fixtures to finalise combinations, sharpen death-bowling plans and give fringe players match exposure in conditions similar to those they will face in England and Wales.
The series is the last competitive assignment before Pakistan travel to the World Cup, making performance and fitness the primary focus for the coaching staff.
Fatima Sana leads the side as captain for both the Ireland tri-series and the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The squad’s departure drew attention from fans and media in Lahore, who view the tri-series as a final dress rehearsal before Pakistan’s World Cup opener at Edgbaston on June 14.
Pakistan women squad: Fatima Sana (captain), Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali Siddiqui (wk), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Saira Jabeen, Tasmia Rubab and Tuba Hassan.
